Six months into my Apprenticeship

Amber JohnsonI have been working at Tri-Synergy Marketing as a marketing executive for the past 6 months as part of my apprenticeship programme. I am studying towards my NVQ level 3 in Digital Marketing.

No one day is ever the same, a typical day can involve a variety of tasks, working alongside various members of the team. Over the past six months I have been able to expand my knowledge and gain experience across a range of marketing activities including; creative design and social media.

Collaboration and team work is a big way in how Tri-Synergy work, frequently getting together to share ideas and to work on projects. I was part of the team that helped design and create adverts for one of our clients, that were published in high-end magazines including; Period Ideas, Grand Designs and Period Living.

I have worked alongside Ryan (Marketing Manager) in designing and producing content material for Tri-Synergy. This has included editing and resizing imagery to ensure Tri-Synergy’s marketing booklet was up to date with latest photography.

I then explored various options which Tri-Synergy could use to easily promote the booklet, which resulted in producing an interactive online booklet which could be sent to potential clients.

Having gone through a rebrand around a year ago, there was some marketing collateral that had old branding on, but were still relevant – I was asked to update a host of items (including slideshare presentations and a marketing guide) to ensure all marketing materials have the same consistent branding.

Outside of the rebranding task, I have been given free rein to be creative and design Facebook banners for Tri-Synergy and an A3 doodle pad, which will be given out to clients. I have based my Facebook banner designs around key events throughout the year (including Royal Ascot, Wimbledon, Halloween, and Olympics etc.) with some of my designs already uploaded onto Tri-Synergy’s Facebook page.

Recently I have had the opportunity to develop my photography skills, as I was asked to take photos in and around the Tri-Synergy offices, so we can update the website to incorporate new members of staff including myself and my fellow apprentice Tom. The task really tested me and made me think “outside the box”. I was told no portrait shots of staff therefore I needed to consider what angles I would take the photos from, what resources we have, and possible group shot combinations.

Aside from the creative side of my work experience, I have also been involved in creating Facebook advertising campaigns. When planning a Facebook campaign it is important to consider the intended target audience, and therefore take into account; demographics, geo-demographics and what key messages need to be conveyed to the target audience. Throughout the campaigns I am consistently monitoring the data, levels of engagement and conversions.

I am pleased to have had the opportunity to gain this experience by working for a digital marketing agency as this has really helped my college learning and supports the digital marketing modules I am studying.
